The case for my re-mortgage was a complex one and certainly out of the normal criteria for most lenders especially in these difficult times (I know - I tried to go direct to the likes of Abbey, HSBC, etc but failed). I spoke to Ketan at Avenue & Co Private Finance (London) and he advised me to wait a few months as he saw a trend in rates reducing. His logic seemed good so I patiently waited paying a variable rate. True to his promise, Ketan then contacted me notifying me of some new rates and then suggested that I let him try and obtain a mortgage when I was doubtful. Through his knowledge of the markets, and his close relationships with key individuals in the lending department of the lender, he got my case through. Had I re-mortgaged earlier, I would have had to pay a substantially higher rate for a full 2 years. I understand the difficulties he overcame more than most as I have been in financial services as an IFA since 1987. I gave up on mortgages 10 years ago due to the hassle so hats off to those that persist! The rate he got me was fantastic and my deal had no valuation or legal fees and best of all, none from him either and he managed to obtain an offer when every high street lender refused.
